WINTER HOLIDAYS BINGE WATCH LIST
1. Fantômas (1964) dir. by André Hunebelle
A French classic jem, a remake of an iconic silent movie character in a new circumstances. THe first movie out of trilogy, where french commissaire, journalist and his fiance trying to catch an evil uncatchable criminal mastermin with a touch of James Bond, Agent OSS and a brilliant duo of Louis de Funès and Jean Marais.
2. Die Hard (1988) dir. by John McTiernan
Another classic favourite about an office Christmas party that was crashed by a group of radical criminals, where a New York police officer saves the situation. Hard to stop watching, as we know.
3. Soul (2020) dir. by Pete Docter
Recently released animation that was finished from home isolation and made it to official Cannes film festival selection. An ultimate inspiring story to look differently at life.
4. The Blind Side (2009) dir. by John Lee Hancock
Based on a book that was inspired by a true story. An Oscar award for Sandra Bullock, among other prizes. Autobiographical story of a NFL player and a family story that takes you to Tennessee.
5. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005) dir. by Andrew Adamson
A perfect winter fairytale, the first chapter from the C.S. Lewis’s fantasy novels about Narnia, where four siblings get lucky to hide-n-seek from the Second World War in England.
6. The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014) dir. by Wes Anderson
Meta-fictional action story based in Zubrowka, Eastern Europe, that let viewers imagine where they could have gone for a holiday. A murder, a mystery and an adventure are taken place with Ralph Fiennes as a lead character.
7. WandaVision (2021) dir. by Matt Shakman
A spin-off mini series that came out earlier in 2021, a 30-minute mixture of sitcom and marvel action that has amazing acting by Elizabeth Olsen that let us get to know Wanda Maksimoff a bit better and takes place after the last Avengers movie, and very much engaging and enjoyable even if you are not a Marvel fan.
8. Ieri, oggi, domani (1963) dir. by Vittorio de Sica
Legendary movie by Italian master of storytelling Vittorio de Sica where characters of brilliant Sofia Loren and Marcelo Mastroianni get to live three lives across three cities in Italy.
9. Gremlins (1984) dir. by Joe Dante
Mixture of unusual genres for a Christmas movie that would drag you in a magical world where gremlins live. Perfect for a cosy cold evening.
10. You’ve Got Mail (1998) dir. by Nora Ephron
Favourite romcom with romcoms’ favourites Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks, set in New York City in the 90s and tell probably of a first cinematic internet dating struggles.
